Seeking The Light & Truth Within: Blossom & Flo

Louise Press has been running healing circles for women and girls for more than 10 years. She says her spiritual awakening began with a desire to learn about healing herbs and work with the land. She took a course with Neal’s Yard remedies, but her desire to empower women and girls about their bodies and teach them about magic of the menstrual cycle, started when she became a mother, and fought tough opposition to give birth to her son at home.

Louise Press talks to me about her about her monthly 'Blossom & Flo' circles for girls, held at her yurt near Bath in Somerset. Louise teaches the girls about their bodies, how the girls can learn to flow with the seasons, creating useful tools to track their monthly menstruation pattern and discover the magic of moon time, an opportunity to connect to their intuition. Louise gently fills the monthly gatherings with creative activities (modelling clay, painting, working with flowers, games, cards & stories) and facilitates a supportive circle of sharing.

Knowledge empowers these girls and there is a special ceremony for each girl to mark her first bleed and welcome menarche. Mothers & daughters come together in circle for special ceremonies throughout the year too.

I filmed and edited this video and would like to thank all the girls, teenagers and their mums who feature. I really wanted to shine a light on this much needed work to support our young girls and break the taboo created by a patriarchal society. Moon-time is a magical and wonderful time to dream, connect with our ancestors, spirit guides, matriarchal line and manifest for the highest good of all.

There is another film about Louise’s Women’s Circles and the magic and medicine that happens when one deeply shares and witnesses, on my YouTube Channel, which you can view here.

It is the safe container filled with Divine Grace which is amazing. In the future I hope everyone – men, women, non-binary – will be able to sit in circle together, where everyone is equal, a teacher, a medicine person and a mirror for soul growth.

Back in the Spring Helen asked if she could make a short film about our little community here in Bath and I was honoured to collaborate. Her gentle enquiries enabled me to pull out the threads of my work, take a good look and weave them back into all that I do. Helen helped me see my work and our community from the outside which is an opportunity I rarely experience. Helen is so easy to be with. Her spirit is strong in such a gentle way; her passion for the ordinary sacred and of reconnection with all of life is infectious… we laughed - a lot! Thank you Helen for bringing my work with the Blossom & Flo girls to life. It was a joy to work with you.
